The University of
Alabama in Huntsville contributes significantly to Huntsville's unique cultural
diversity by sponsoring the annual International Festival of
North Alabama, a one-day, family-oriented
spectacular that features a variety of global performances and ethnic
exhibitions, as well as international arts and cuisine on Saturday, September
29th at Spragins Hall. In addition to these activities, UAHuntsville will host
a juried Photography Exhibition showcasing works from students who have
traveled abroad through international academic programs in 2011 or 2012. We ask you to share with us your unforgettable moments, distinct
cultural experience, and breathtaking adventures!
Applicants are
encouraged to submit up to three original photographs in digital format: 800 x
1200 jpgs at 72ppi or between 2MB and 3MB. All works should be submitted by 5
PM, Friday, August 31. In
addition to the images, each entry should include the artist’s name and contact
information, title of the work, date and location the photo was taken, and a
short artist statement (2-5 sentences) for each photo explaining how that site
and moment was significant to you.
We will notify you
by Friday, September 7th if any of your pieces have been chosen for
the exhibition and provide you further instructions at that point.
In addition to
being on display for hundreds of visitors at the International Festival, these
works will then travel to the University Center where they will be on view in
various locations to promote UAH study abroad programs.
We know you had a
great experience abroad and look forward to seeing your photos. Please send jpg
images with “International Festival” in the subject line to Setareh Tajbakhsh st0002[at]uah.edu.
