STUDY ABROAD INFORMATION SESSION

On Thursday, October 20, at 6:30pm in Morton Hall 240, the Global Studies Program will host an informational session for study abroad.  All topics concerning study abroad will be discussed.  In particular, the session will focus on the following faculty-led study abroad opportunities:

GS 199/CM 340 Ancient Greek Theatre
FL 201S/301S/FL 499S Intensive Spanish in Salamanca, Spain
NUR 418/518 Global Health, International Study in London

In addition, we will discuss the options for intensive German in Duesseldorf, Germany, art and art history in Cortona, Italy, and the various programs available through the University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC).

Free Lecture on the Architectural Heritage of the Berlin Wall and Peenemünde


Uta Mense of the Technical University of Cottbus in Germany will give a public lecture entitled "The Berlin Wall and Peenemünde: Traces of the Modern Heritage of 20th-Century Germany." Ms. Mense will discuss how modern GIS-based technology can help identify the remains of these sites and help us better understand their historical significance.

The talk will be on Tuesday, February 8th, at 7:30pm in Roberts Hall 419.

Ms. Mense is from Germany and previously worked as an architect in the Netherlands and Germany. She has completed the postgraduate master program, UNESCO "World Heritage Studies," and is now working as a project-manager for EU-funded intercultural projects and conducting research on the heritage of the space race, focusing on the United States, Russia/Kazakhstan, as well as its origins in Germany.

Both programs offer UAH credit and offer students incredible opportunities to study and research at top-notch facilities in Germany and Panama.
